The blaze caused the top floor of the two-storey Woodridge home to collapse.

One of the house’s two occupants made it out safely, but a man was declared missing.

Police declared a crime scene but searches of the property were held up by asbestos being present in the building, a spokesman said.

Queensland Police later confirmed the body of a man was located inside the burned house.

No neighbouring properties were damaged by the fire, which was reported just after midnight.
