The 3.8ha site, neighbouring the XXXX brewery, is currently home to the heritage-listed Old Bishopsbourne and also the grounds of the St Francis Theological College.

The church has called for expressions of interest for what it has called co-location on the site while maintaining ownership of the college grounds.

Old Bishopsbourne was previously the home the Anglican Archbishop and the current holder of that office, Phillip Aspinall, recently told Anglican Focus he wanted Old Bishopsbourne and other significant heritage buildings preserved and enhanced.

“However, it is expected that millions of dollars will be needed,” he said.

“We need additional income to pay for these works, so we and the wider community can make the most of the college’s site.

“We are retaining the ownership of the college and its site.

“The expressions of interest process is about seeing what good ideas are out there to better use the site in co-operation with potential partners.

“Any co-location partners and projects we choose will have a community purpose and be in keeping with our values.”

Knight Frank will conduct the EOI process.
