Internet services don’t appear to have been hit but the outage extended across the east coast.

Optus said it was aware of the problem but there was no detail on when the issue would be fixed or how widespread the issue was.

However, social media users from Tasmania, Victoria and NSW also commented on the outage.

“We’re aware of the issue impacting some Optus mobile customers’ ability to make voice calls,” Optus said.

“Our teams have identified the fault and restoration of voice services for impacted customers is underway.

‘We apologise to impacted customers and thank them for their patience while the remaining affected services are restored.”

Some NBN landline users were also experiencing issues.

Telstra was unaffected.
